The Great Escape (1963)

If you like- The Thomas Crown Affair, The Italian Job, Die Hard

Synopsis– During WWII, Nazi officials monitor a POW camp for prisoners who tend to escape other camps– a camp for Houdinis. A group of especially brilliant captives conspire to bust out hundreds of their brethren at one time, quietly digging a tunnel to freedom. The film includes a star-studded cast (Steve McQueen, James Garner, James Coburn, Charles Bronson) and keeps you guessing as the team attempts to thwart their Nazi guards and the intent swarm of gestapo.

Why it’s better– Steve McQueen jumps a barbed wire fence. Seriously.
